Hi All,

My Seagate 500GB HDD sometimes cannot be detected. Even if it can be detected, I cannot read the data in the harddisk.
I have a lot of photographs and document files in this drive.

Please advise any shop or company can help to retrieve my data and the price for it. Or is there anyway to retrieve my data. This HDD is not longer under warranty.

Thank you.

You can call Ontrack Data Recovery direct for assistance.

Ontrackdatarecovery.com.sg

They have a clean room as part of the data recovery process.

model of your drive?

7200.11 barracuda? If yes, you might be plague with the BSY bug issue, upgrade your firmware and see whether it helps.

Good luck. Update fast once your drive is detected. If not, there are high chances of getting it bricked once u power down your PC.

As the top post already mentioned about the firmware. there are instructions on how to do so.

I highly recommend you to backup all your data after flashing the firmware, as updating to SD1A does not solve the issues permanently.

Thank you. I will try this during the weekend and report my findings.

i used to do unbrick HDD for 7200.11 BSY issue. i just need a XP machine to unbrick.

Hi albertlee and Mclairs83,

I used the Firmware update link provided by albertlee, but my model no. is not listed there.

My HDD details are as below:
Serial Number: 6QM05L24
Part Number: 9BX154-303
Model Number: ST3500320AS
Family: BARRACUDA

I tried to search for the latest firmware using the website search feature but when I click on the firmware link, I cannot complete the 30MB firmware download.

What should I do now?
