Hi
I have a problem with my desktop at home, and I hope that with your help I can narrow down the potential causes so that I can take the necessary repair action.
Earlier this afternoon I started my PC after about a week. It started as normal then as I was browsing the PC crashed and I got the blue screen stating something about a crash dump. I restarted in safe mode but I got the blue screen again. Then I chose the repair option but pressing enter to select did nothing, neither did choosing the option to start Windows normally.
Now my PC does not boot up at all. All I get is the Bios splash screen and the PC does not go any further then that. Pressing options to view startup options, change Bios settings etc does nothing.
Any ideas what could be the problem? A faulty MB perhaps?
Running Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm afraid I have no clue as to the MB model, only that its brand is Gigabyte.
Thanks for any help.

Take out all the ram module, clean the gold contact on the module using an eraser. When done, install one module at a time to test the system.

If ram is not the issue, likely is your HDD having bad sectors.

how he gonna run the software when he can't boot up his comp.. :s13::s13:

My bad.
TLDR.

Dear TS,

Most likely your SSD OS HDD Spoil liao.
Go insert it as secondary HDD for another PC and see if you can load it up and save your data.

After that go format and reinstall OS on it and see if it can still work.

Thanks, but the boot drive is a SSD. Would that be liable to corruption?

Yes, the OS will be corrupted on your failure to repair it during the safe mode.

Please attach your ssd to a working system and do a full check disk. Hopefully, the disk and OS can be repaired.

The blue screen is normally associated with hardware failure. In your case, it could be the SSD, psu or Ram.

You'll need to trouble each part one by one.

Dear all
Problem solved. It was the RAM. I did as commach suggested, that did the trick.
Thank you for your help.
