Hi to all,

I have a pc that is a few years old now and I’m thinking of upgrading it. My specs are as follow:

I5-4570
Msi B85-G43
Kingston 8gb DDR3 - 1600

Adata Premier Pro SP900 128gb
WD Caviar Green HDD 3tb 5400rpm
MSI GTX 770 2gb
Shark toon t28 casing

I mainly play Dota, pubg, and watch videos. I am going to upgrade the HDD and maybe the ssd. For now, I am unsure if I should upgrade my gpu/motherboard/processor. Or just wait and change the entire rig altogether.

My Budget is around 700, I don’t mind upgrading them periodically (meaning 700 now and more in the near future). I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on this! Thank you!

If you upgrade the CPU+MB, you will need to upgrade the RAM to DDR4 as well. In which case, I would suggest you wait until you wish to do a new rig.

I noticed that from my research as well, thanks for the advice!

Hi, I have the same i5 4570 as you and paired with my gtx 1060, I can max almost every games at 1080p. I5 4570 is still a very strong CPU which is on pair with ryzen 5 1400, hack people are when using older i5 2500
With gtx1060.

I would recommend u to spend your $700 on a gtx1060(or wait for gtx 20 series if u are willing to wait) and a another 8gb of ddr3 ram. Leaving you with some budget to use for your future upgrades?

I will definitely look into the gpu you suggested. Can I know what model of gtx 1060 you are using? Thank you!

If you're not using your PC for any productivity workflow such as video/photo-editing, 3D animation work etc. Your CPU is still fine.

If you can wait for a few more months, nVidia seems to have new GPUs coming out within this year. GTX 1060 is almost 2 years old, I suggest you wait out for new GPUs.

Thanks for your input, I Guess I will research further more and weigh my options before I make a decision. Thank you.

Still rocking with my i5 3470 and i3 4160. Awesome cpus still for gaming when pair with a decent card like gtx 1060. To hell with the overprice ddr4 ram.

Really..just stick with your current CPU. If you plan to overhaul and build new coffee lake platform the CPU mobo RAM price will be a killer. Just change your GPU will do.

If you going to build new system the ddr4 ram prices and the overprice GPU prices is going to hurt your budget and make you feel heart pain.

Stick to your current system your gtx770 is still good enough for the games you are playing. However if you are really itching for an upgrade at the lowest price for the highest gain in gaming performance an upgrade to the gtx 1060 1070 will be the obvious choice.
