Need help with building rig

Hi guys, need help with building a new rig with my very limited knowledge. Will be used mainly for gaming and sometimes video editing. Plan to buy from PC Themes and assemble there. Budget is 1.8k excluding monitor, keyboard, mouse n speakers. Willing to stretch budget abit if necessary.

CPU+MOBO: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 + MSI B350 Tomahawk or i5 8400 + ASUS Z370P Prime (please recommend which would be better? am open to other choices too!)
CPU Cooler: Cryorig H7 (is this needed?)
RAM: Corsair Vengence LPX 2666MHz 16GB (8 x 2)
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB M2
GPU: Galax GTX 1070 Ti Ex
PSU: Coolermaster M2 Silent Pro 720W (using back previous)
DVD ROM: LG DVD-RW SATA (using back previous)
CHASSIS: Mid tower (please recommend? though i would need like 5 x 3.5" bays for my previous HDDs)
CHASSIS FANS: (please recommend if need to add for better airflow with recommended chassis)
OS: Windows 10 (from Carousell.. but could someone pm a reliable seller?)

Would appreciate if there can be a black red theme or white theme and also possibly RGB if the budget allows it. But not a priority. Thanks in advance!

If you wish to buy now, go with AMD R5 1600. AMD provides a decent overclock to 3.7 GHz and has SMT (6 Cores 12 Threads compared to Intel's 6 cores 6 Threads). It seems you need at least 6 SATA drives. 5 HDDs and 1 DVD. B350 Tomahawk only has 4 SATA ports. I suggest going with ASRock AB350 Pro 4 or ASRock AB350 Gaming K4. It has 6 SATA3 ports for your devices.

For Intel, I suggest waiting a while for B360 or H370 Motherboards. You do not need to spend extra on a Z370 motherboard for a locked i5-8400. Intel has turbo features up to 4.0 GHz (But will not achieve on stock cooler)
CPU Cooler: Cryorig H7 (is this needed?)
Buy AMD, No need cooler. Buy Intel, you will wish you've a better cooler. I mean, both does the Job. AMD does it well while being silent. Intel is adequate but noisy and will thermal throttle.

RAM: Corsair Vengence LPX 2666MHz 16GB (8 x 2)
Get the LPX 3000 MHz C16 kit. It is like $10 more and faster RAM is better for both AMD or Intel.
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB M.2
850 Evo m.2 is a SATA drive. you've already occupied all 6 ports. If you use this, one of your SATA ports will not work.
You can use PCIe SSD instead. Suggest Samsung 960 Evo m.2. A bit more pricey than 850 Evo.
GPU: Galax GTX 1070 Ti Ex
There's two version to it, Black or White. If you wish to have a white one, it'll be extra bit more. Galax GTX 1070 Ti Ex Sniper-White
PSU: Coolermaster M2 Silent Pro 720W (using back previous)
DVD ROM: LG DVD-RW SATA (using back previous)
CHASSIS: Mid tower (please recommend? though i would need like 5 x 3.5" bays for my previous HDDs)
Can think of Fractal Design Define R5. Has 8 HDD bays and a DVD slot.
CHASSIS FANS: (please recommend if need to add for better airflow with recommended chassis)
Can go with Fractal Design X2 GP-12 or GP-14 fans if you're taking the R5

OS: Windows 10 (from Carousell.. but could someone pm a reliable seller?)

You could get better and/or cheaper chassis if you invest in a NAS for those HDDs, only keeping 1 in the PC for storage or less important softwares and games.

Would suggest changing the PSU as well. It's aged and you wouldn't want it to pop together with all your new hardwares, do you?

I'm assuming thats the one where you will need some kind of diskstation? Will my current HDDs work or do I have to get some kind of NAS compatible ones? Sorry, am not familiar with them at all.
Which PSU do you recommend in this case?
Also, i've seen you recommend others getting windows from carousell.. able to recommend a seller?

Asrock Pro4 has decent heatsink vrm compared to other brands (fin type, and on both side of the vrm) also known for its compatibility for most brand of rams. For a B350 series mobo, it also have good power phases and design (longevity is luck basis, no guarantee on that), hence oc is not bad on this board.

If you're willing to fork out for psu, Seasonic Focus Plus 650W (full modular) or EVGA G3 650W/Superflower Leadex II Gold 650W (full modular) is good enough for you. Some cheaper alternative includes Superflower Leadex Silver 650W (full modular), EVGA GD650 (non-modular), Corsair TX650 (semi-modular).

For NAS/Diskstation, I'm no expert either. I know it's a viable solution to your case but I don't own one so I can't really recommend what is good for you. You gotta so some research or see if some other bros here kind enough to give some pointers to you.

Exactly what Ferolare has answered. Heatsink has no VRM.

Not many cases supports a DVD drive so you're pretty much stuck with that. Haha... There are some Corsair/Cooler Master case with a 5.25" bay drive too, can't think of one right now.

Unless you do not wish to use the DVD Drive as well... Then you'll have more chocies.

Hahaha, really quite dated liao you. Now plug in USB can install liao.

For casing, best bang for the buck would be the Cooler Master N200, solid build quality, good airflow design, includes 2 fan also. But it is a MATX case, would suggest you source for a MATX board better, since ATX board is big and alot of slots you wont be using.

Windows install is usually done using a bootable USB flash drive with the windows installer. Plug into the PC, go to UEFI, select USB to boot and install from there. You can download the Windows installer directly from microsoft.

For caes, I like Phanteks P300. It's a nice looking $99 case with pretty good airflow. Need to add 2x fans in the front which will cost you extra $40.

Another popular case is Sharkoon TG5. Acceptable Airflow, comes with single color LED Fans x4 and its all tempered glass.

For the difference between ASRock Pro 4 and K4, it is just mainly the color and K4 has "GAMING" on it, thus more expensive. (Also has Creative software to use)
