Hi all, my DIY PC i assembled 6 years back gave up on me today (continuous freezing, unable to isolate the problem) so I've decided to get an off-the-shelf PC since I can't be bothered to DIY anymore / don't have faith in Sim Lim doing it for me.
I do still enjoy the flexibility of adding hard disk / changing parts so was hoping to find a basic off-the-shelf PC then I can add GFX card (if running integrated) or SSD in. Prebuilt PSU should be able to support GFX card of course.
Usage nowadays is most day-to-day with some Steam gaming, but I have not paid a graphics intensive game on my PC for a while. So I don't need something built for gaming but I'd still like a dedicated GFX card.
Budget is around $1,300 - $1,500 max (including SSD).
The Acer Aspire series even the lower end $899 looks good enough for me but I'm not sure if I can swap the parts after I buy it. Also read some bad stories about Acer from HWZ.
From Dell the XPS Tower $1,399 looks decent but quite pricey if I want to further add an SSD. The cheaper Inspiron $900 may have problem with custom mobo which will limit extension / adding GFX card and the case looks bad for airflow.
HP has some decent ones but mostly were integrated gfx card which is sad and unsure of extension possibilities.
