I m new to this DIY or customizing CPU thingy. All along I had been using ready made cpu from ASUS until recently I sorta gave up hope on its brand. So I was recommended by a friend to try Aftershock. After some research, I realised they DIY cpu for us and add a branding and warranty.

Back to my requirements, I m intending to use for movies, and gaming. This will be my first major investment into a gaming cpu ie. one with a better graphics card. Budget will be around 2k for the cpu. Monitor not needed.
Would be great if you could refer it either to Aftershock zeal, hypergate or impulse customization.

Thanks

What customization do you need when they sell ready - specced gaming PCs?

people actually buy aftersh!ts product ?
When I was still young and dangerous, will frequently visit SLS buy parts and zhng myself. Diy put decals, spray casing etc. Even volunteer service help friends do. Nowadays when u becomes unker, u will rather dedicate ur time elsewhere. Maintaining these sort of hobbies becomes a luxury Liao.

I would rather you choose the part yourself, and ask someone assemble for you.

So who's gonna troubleshoot for him if his pc has problems down the road? When you buy pre built pc at a premium price, it comes with 3 years warranty, anytime pc has problem can ask them to come but just get ready your hard disk will be wiped out but problem will be fixed within that day.

Like your nick says... Life is hard. Best to learn how to do things yourself.

If you have money and no time, why bother? Everyone has the choice to choose to take taxi or public transport, right? But when someone comes in here asking for advice, all shoot to say diy. Not saying diy is bad but buying pre built with warranty does has its pros too.

Agree with you. That's what I have been saying too.

Indeed DIY is cheaper and more value for money, but some people really doesn't have the time and leisure to do troubleshooting. Hence, Aftershock services is so well received as it is catered for people like the above mentioned. No time but got money, which this type of customers, make a big part of sg market.

Sent from PM me if you wanna build a DIY PC or wanna learn how to make one yourself :D using GAGT

@TS, just be educated that all items from aftershock will have to claim warranty from aftershock itself. You cannot say after 3 years go claim warranty for your psu after you open the set and know what brand it is.

First of all, you have to decide which casing you like before asking us to recommended. Also, PC show is around the corner so it's advisable to wait a little longer for aftershock to announce their show's promo.

Actually even if i buy pre-built i also don't want them to troubleshoot for me.. sometimes they will do stupid thing like reformat whole com when the issue is caused by a buggy driver update :s22: :s22:, to me it's not about the money, but the heart and effort..

Example, when you pay some people to assemble your pc.. one look at the outcome know they don't give any **** already, just doing for the sake of it.
