Planning to get a gaming rig (playing Dota 2 and maybe some new games) this weekend. Budget $1.4k. Need OS (Windows 8) and Wifi (using starhub 100 mbps plan with the free AC router). No need keyboard, mouse, monitor or speaker.

Planning to get the Fractal-Design Arc Midi R2 for the casing. Can pros here recommend a build. Thanks!

Nothing in mind yet. But need the rig to be a bit future proof in case something nice comes along.

Err.... you know, I must warn you that true futureproofing is impossible in the face of the rapid changing enviroment today. Your 'future proof' rig may become obsolete if a Not!Crysis or a Not!Watch Dogs comes out in the future and causes top end GPUs to choke, unless you do not mind not playing at max settings.

Oh no, I just want to know what version you want.

CPU+ Mobo: MSI B85-G41 PC MATE+ i5 4460 (348)
RAM: 2X G.SKILL PC 12800/1600MHZ DDR3 CL11 VALUE RAM (4GB) (106)
GPU: POWER COLOR R9 280X 3GB TURBODUO (418)
SSD: ADATA SP900 128GB (99)
HDD: TOSHIBA 1TB 7200RPM (69)
DVD-RW: LG 24X DVD-RW SATA OEM (25)
PSU: THERMALTAKE SMART SE 630W (85)
Case: FRACTAL DESIGN ARC MIDI R2 WINDOW (139)
OS: WINDOWS 8 HOME PREM 64BIT (138)
Networking: TP-Link WN781N 150Mbps PCI Adapter (32) (Infinity)

Total cost: $1459

Unless otherwise stated, buy at PC Themes, #04-15, and ask for discounts. DIY yourself. If you can't into DIY, go to PC Care & Solution at #02-32 and ask Nigel to help you assemble for a fee.

Notes:
1) Windows 8 is $18 more expensive than Windows 7. Why Windows 8?

2) If possible, try hunting around SLS for the PCI-E version of the wireless adapter for better internet performance.
