does anyone know where to get replacement screws? i tried asking in acer forums but they told me to buy a 300 screws assortment pack from ebay, i saw its like around 5-20 usd and don't think its worth as i don't have the need or use for the remaining 293 screws... thanks in advanced...

Just go to any laptop / computer repair shops in Sim Lim Sq.
Be friendly with the technicians n u would able to get some free screws.
For HDD the main screw is the 5th screw.
Sometimes the screws are on the side bracket.
As long as the SATA connector and 5th screw in place tight it should not be any problems.

If you have a spoilt laptop lying / appliance around, a Jerry rigged method would be to try and mix and match screws to see if it fits.. :zotto:

thanks. but what should i tell them? i don't know the size number or part number...

i couldn't find any service manual for this laptop, only able to find "Generic User Guide" and "Quick Start Guide" but both don't talk about any type of screws...

EDIT: sorry, just googled again and i found it, i got it already, thanks

The bottom left which in line with the connector.
That is the only screw in the picture of the HDD.
Also the bracket has to be nicely fit else cannot cover.

Not very sure, maybe he wanted to use his own ssd, anyways over liao no point getting angry

Wouldn't that break the sata connector? Cos there are no screws to secure the hdd to the caddy, and I also need to move the laptop around, so I'm scared it will not be as secure and might snap off...

Nope.
The caddy is tight fit and if mis-aligned the cover cannot be close tight.
This is the same for external HDD case where no screws needed as the connector is the mainly secured.

Oh I see. But I noticed there's a gap inbetween the bottom of the hdd and the caddy. So I can't really connect to the connector unless I screw the hdd to the caddy which will help align the connectors together... if you don't understand I can record a video for you, sorry I don't really know how explain it properly
