Need help with my computer

Hi all,

I think my motherboard (lga1155, i7 3770) died on me. Cant power up, so I did the below testing.

sent psu to distro for testing
paper clip test.
reassemble every parts.
change the mb battery

After reassemble everything, I managed to power it up ytd after multiple tries. Used the com and all seems normal. this morning auto shut down and cannot be switch on anymore.

1) Can I confirm that my mb has died based on the above testing or should I bring it down to simlim for more test?

2) Is lga1155 mb available in sim lim? If it's not available, will it be better to source for 2nd hand part or it is better to change to new mb/processor and reuse my existing parts?
Current cpu fits my usage.

could be psu and mobo though, but dod u have a spare system to test?
next if it still on warranty, why not send it for repairs?

i dun think u can find lga1155 on their price list, but i think u can try looking for some shop that seems like selling old stuff, maybe u can try.

next u can try the IT gauge as i rmb there is 1 user selling old stuff with wty of some price.

You can try cleaning and re-seating your memory RAMs. That means take them out, clean the golden parts with a soft eraser and replace the RAMs.

You can try cleaning and re-seating your memory RAMs. That means take them out, clean the golden parts with a soft eraser and replace the RAMs.

I didnt clean them, but i did re sit. Cant find eraser.
Currently my com is bare now, except for the power cable plug into the mobo. Nothing light up. Psu fan not spinning too. I test my psu on another com and it works.

Is it dusty inside your PC? My previous motherboard and graphics card shorted out because there is too much dust inside my PC. LOL... I was lazy to clear the interior for 3 years.

Because of my laziness, I had to fork out money to buy the motherboard and graphics card.

went to buy an eraser. didnt work too.

nope. no gpu connecting to it
just the necessary cable to power up the mobo

I sent my psu to corbell few days ago for testing as it is still under warranty. Run test for 30min and was told my psu working fine.

No spare psu to test.

From what you are able to test, I'm leaning towards your mobo as the problem causing it.

If you are not interested in overhauling your system and/or if your system is meant for light usage, I would grab a 2nd hand mobo if I were you. Reuse the rest of the parts.

I have the same guess as you. mobo problem.

My current pc fits my usage. Consider getting a 2nd hand mobo, but the lack of warranty make me reconsider my option. Cost about $100 to $150?

or get new chip and mobo like i5 4xxx for $3xx with warranty, reuse back all parts. Maybe sell away my i7 3770k chip.

Which options will be more 'worth it' ?

Well when it comes to 2nd hand parts without warranty, you have to take a chance The good thing is that if for some reason it is not the mobo causing the issue, you can sell that used mobo away for about the same price.

That said, there's nothing wrong with getting brand new either. You spend more for that piece of mind.

guess i will prefer that piece of mind. unless a good deal comes along fast.
