Need help with my pc

Hi there

I applied an update via Windows update and after reboot I'm unable to start up. No display on monitor. 5 beeps so should be VGA failure according to my mb manual. I don't have a spare VGA card to test.

Anyone know if there's another way to roll back the update? Any suggestions? Last resort I'll buy a new card

Your motherboard has onboard graphics? Remove the graphic card and plug the cable to your motherboard

MB has onboard graphics even though your CPU does not.

TS, if your rig profile is that on the right, then possible that old rig gone up lorry after a restart.

This happened to my office Dell desktop too. Was running fine and doing windows update and suddenly black screen upon restart to complete windows update.

Oh I didn't update my rig profile for a long time. Right now it's asrock b85m pro4 I think. Very old MSI 560 ti

Your mobo has integrated graphic. Remove 6870 and plug in hdmi / dvi to motheboard
RESET BIOS ( FInd jumper or switch off power, remove battery and wait for 30s before plugging battery back in )

CAN YOUR SYSTEM POST into BIOS?
CAN YOUR SYSTEM BOOT INTO WINDOWS

IF both YEs, plug back card and try again

Based on your description I am assuming that you are unable to even see the bios screen after the windows update.

Since you using the asrock board means your using 4th gen intel processor. Those processor should have intel graphics chip on the processor. Use onboard start the pc see if can see any display or not. Could be that windows update some gpu drivers or install something that causing incompatibility issues that is why no display.

Look like you are using NV card, are u using window 10 by chance? if yes. most likely an issue i encounter too before. For some reason window 10 disable eGPU, try getting your iGPU up and do the following uninstall old NV driver and reinstall it.

Thanks all for replies. After a whole day of not using it, it can boot up now. Turns out the update didn't go through for some reason. I'm running chkdisk and not touching win update for now.

Think I should just get a new card just in case? Any idea why it can't detect vga, then after a few hours it can?
