Hi all.

Ive been having a problem with my pc recently. I can be watching youtube or playing games and the screen suddenly freezes but sound continues playing on. I cannot bring up task manager or do anything else unless i hard reset the pc.

Ive went on google and there are so many different answers on this. I am not sure if it is a video card problem or motherboard problem.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Im using nvidia geforce 750 ti for ard 3 years. Motherboard is rampage 2 extreme for 5 years. 12 gb ram.

You won't know unless you have a spare gpu to try it out

This symptom can be due to ram as well. Take out ram, use an eraser to clean the gold contacts softly, put it back to mobo. See if it helps.

If symptoms still persist after a gpu change and cleaning the RAM, consider upgrade rig liao. Rampage 2 extreme is very very old. Otherwise, can consider some Chinese X58 mobo from taobao as well. But those have limitation on RAM speed and overclocking may not be supported.

For your generation of graphic card, doesn't seem normal. I could be wrong, but if I recall correctly, 0 dB fans (or fan that don't move on idle) are present on recent gpu models only

Hmm i remember got once it froze while playing PUBG.

After that my comp fan become very loud all the time. I reset bios to default setting still the same. Not sure where the sound is coming from. Unless i set bios fan control to auto only it will sometimes slow down sometimes speed up like before.

But after that crash all these issues started becoming very common. The most recent is this morning I started a normal non graphic intensive game. It crashed to a blinking black screen with sound going on in the background.

I hard reset a few times got a few times can hear windows login sound but screen goes black and blinking power led for a few times.

Later gonna try to reseat the gfx card and rub wuth eraser see how. I really hope its not gfx card uplorry

Finally resolved. I was almost gonna buy a new gfx card then i tried uninstalling the driver with DDU and installed an old driver for 750ti. Somehow havent crashed since then. Also updated my audio driver and everything is good. Saw someone post in geforce forums saying sometimes new drivers can crash with audio driver.

Thanks everyone for advises
