Mainboard starting to show small signs of failure so thinking of changing it.

Parts of Current system that need changing with main board

Gigabyte Intel h55 1156
I5 760 2.8ghz/8mb
Crucial 8gb pc1600 ddr3

Parts to reuse/ recently upgraded
Intel 730 480gb ssd
Cooler master n600 USB 3.0 casing
Supeflower leader full modular 80+ gold (bought Jul 2015)
Palit geforce gtx750 to storm dual 2gb
Seagate barracuda 500gb Hdd

Monitor: Samsung 21.5inch led
Speakers: denon m39

Usage of pc: surfing, spotify, ms office

Intend to purchase:

Processor: i5 6500- well recommended in other threads

Mainboards shortlisted:
MSI b150m mortar: recommended in other threads as a good basic

Asrock z170 extreme4:
-has m2 slot for future proofing?
- Intel lan
- realtek alc 1150 codec

Any feedback on whether advisable to pay more for M2 slot now?

Also... any recs on budget boards with above features?

Advice welcome

Update after purchasing and trying to install:
My main board is fine.
It was the seagate 500gb hdd causing the problem.
Sigh

The asrock is made for overclocking, so dosent make sense for you to get it compared to the msi. If you want the m.2 slot, can consider b150m-d3h from gigabyte, more features and got the m2 slot if you wanted it

Base on your normal usage, i don't think you even need i5. i3 is just nice.

Mmm don't think Asrock Z170 ext4 is made for overclocking per se but it can overclock if user decides to do it

Sent from Huawei NEXUS 6P using GAGT

Go for MSI. Also has m2

Just re-checked. Yes, MSI has m2 as well. But it's m2 WiFi? Not sure what's the difference. Saw 1 review say due to space constraint slot more for WiFi card than SSD?

Thinking of buying from Qoo10 and videopro doesn't sell gigabyte :(

Thanks for the advice.
I saw i3 is 2 cores and i5 is 4 cores.
Was thinking if price difference not much, more worth to get i5?
Or is there a more recommended processor than 6500?

Not planning to overclock :o more interested in value for money features. =:p

Just saw that Asus H170 Gaming Pro also has m2 support.
Is it any good?

Did some more research on processors, is i3 6100 better for my needs?

A review comparison:

Core i3-6100
General recommendations:
Performs a bit faster in single-threaded programs,
Needs less power,
Somewhat cheaper,
Significantly better price / performance ratio

Drawbacks:

Performs insignificantly worse in all task types,
A bit slow in graphics applications

Core i5-6500
General recommendations:
Insignificantly faster overall,
Performs a bit better in graphics programs

Drawbacks:

A bit slow in single-threaded applications,
Requires more power,
Priced considerably higher,
Significantly worse price / performance ratio

Since there is a $100 off $500 coupon now, go get i5-6500 and MSI B150m Mortar. Total is $538.

Then get the Kingston 1x 8gb DDR4 ram at $68. Use $5 mastercard item coupon and qtalk $10 off $50 to get $15 off.

Thanks for the reminder on the ram and coupons to use!

Can the MSI fit m.2 ssd? There's a review seems to say the space too tight more for WiFi card?
