Recently encountered multiple BSOD, even after and during multiple Windows 10 clean reformatting. Guess my CPU and Board probably EOL, after serving me faithfully for almost 10 years.
Don't think it's bad sector since, my SSD is relatively new, 85% wear level, and no warning from Crystal Disk Info. Not RAM too, since my RAMs passed Windows Memory Diagnostic tool. Probably not PSU either, since my computer doesn't randomly lose power and shutdown, and Seasonic is a pretty respectable brand, no weird smell from it too.
Hence, it has to be my CPU or Mobo (one or the other). The dreaded, most tedious component to change. And it's almost 10 years old, about time anyway.
Since I'm changing my Mobo + CPU, had to change my RAM too.
Any recommendations for CPU + Mobo (+ RAM?)
Additional information:
1. Heard some really good things about Ryzen 3000 series, and also heard Intel is only moving to 7nm in 2021. I have never had an AMD CPU before. A little nervous.
2. Mainly use it for light 1080p gaming. But also do some MATLAB coding, simulations, studies etc (I work in academia).
3. Budget: usually I go for the mid-range offerings (i5 etc.) but if it make sense (value to performance wise) don't mind paying for the higher tier product.
