Need a average gaming rig with $1.6K budget.

Would prefer to have a SSD with 1TB HDD.

TIA

No need for a z97 board for a locked cpu. Why do you need a cd drive for?

Poor matchup.

1. Z97 is for hardore overclockers/enthusiast with many HDDs and graphics cards. Chances are that you won't even install anything extra after you've built your com. Just like your current PC (if you are using any).

2. These performance RAMs are only performing when they are overclocked. Yet overclocked RAMs currently do not offer any substantial improvement in games. So they are nothing more than a normal RAM with beautiful heatsink. Colour also not matching motherboard and graphics card.

3. GTX 960 is a full tier below the recommended GTX 970, and is performance equivalent to a R9-280 which is almost $100 cheaper. So its either R9-280 or GTX 970. GTX 960 is really in middle of nowhere.

4. Chassis wise is subjective but do consider the recommended chassis with red LED if you are keen on having a red-black colour themed setup.

Erm...
Dun need z97 ba, actually it is for overclocking processors with unlocked multiplier
RAM don't need over clocked one, the normal ones are enough. I bought my corsair Vengeance to colour match my casing and mobo.
Why GTX960 lol... Like everyone said, it is a good tier below the GTX970 and with your budget, you can easily get a GTX970, R9 290X or even a GTX980
Casing arh... I love how the R5 looks but you can also go for a simpler one like the Core 1500
