need recommendation for compact camera

i need recommendation for a small compact digital camera thats good in taking close up pictures of static items...

any guru can recommend me? preferably under $500 range :D:D

Olympus dun produce LX7, Panasonic does.

BTW, Canon latest is G16 not G15, speaking about compact, unless your hands are the size of King Kong, G16 is not really a 'compact' camera, so pls offer sensible options such as S110 or the Olympus, opps I mean Panasonic LX7, infact, LX7 also dun fall into the compact region. :(
