For Dell, you can go for the Vostro 5470, 1.5kg
4th Gen i5-4200U, 2GB Nvidia GT740, 4GB ram, 14" HD display, 500GB + 32GB mSATA for $1399.

For Asus, you can go for K451, 2kg, comes with optical drive.
4th Gen i7-4200U, 4GB Nvidea GT740, 4GB ram, 14" HD display, 750GB + 8GB SSH for $1298.

you can go for the i5 version at $999. i5-4200U with 2GB Nvidea GT740, 500GB + 8GB SSH.

For Lenovo, can consider Z510 (5 hours of batery life)
4th Gen i7-4701MQ, 2GB Nvidea GT740, 8GB ram, 15.6" HD display, 1TB HDD for $1299.

Or you can go for the U430 touch, comes in i5 & i7
4th Gen i5-4200U, 4GB ram, 500GB +8GB SSHD, 14" FHD display, 2GB GT730M, up to 10 hours of battery life. ($1399)
4th Gen i7-4500U, 8GB ram, 500GB + 8GB SSHD, 14" FHD display, 2GB GT730M. ($1599)

As for other brands like HP, Acer, Samsung, Sony, i'm not very sure though. ;)
Need to add U430 is the only unit that comes with 1920x1080 display resolution. the rest runs on 1366x768

That MSI sounds like a really good deal. I might reconsider getting a y410p. The i7-4800 seems overkill though.
Is the 750m in the msi ddr3 or ddr5? The one in the asus seems to be ddr3.

The MSI is a DDR5 graphics. Asus is DDR3.

With these specs, MSI is the cheapest with the price range, with gaming grade quality and specs. Previous model are i7-4700 selling at $1699. The latest model now is upgrade to i7-4800 and selling at $100 cheaper. Promotion is only till next week. :)
