Hey bros, Been lurking around the forums for months, patiently anticipating for the day i saved enough money for my desktop while watching enviously as other forum-users got their hoots. Finally its my turn, or soon to be my turn:s13:

Anyways, I'll start with my budget. I'm aiming for a 1.8k Budget( stretchable to 2k, if need be). I do need the following: OS; Monitor; Wireless adapter. I don't need an ssd as i have already ordered one:s12:. ( amazon! )

No need to OC for my CPU.

I do have one dilemma, I intend to stick to a 1080p screen as my table lacks space for the 1440p QNIX monitor. Hence i'll probably stick to a 23"-24" monitor. I do want to have a R9 290 card. What are your thoughts on that?

Thanks in advance! :D

1.8k cpu only with os and monitor

Msi b85m g43 + i5-4570 ~ $347
Gskills ripjaws 1600mhz 2x4gb kit ~ $110
Wd blue 1tb ~ $76
Ssd reuse
Msi r9 290 4gb twin frozr gaming ~ $688 with bf4
Superflower hx600 600w 80+ gold ~ $108
Corsair obsidian 350D ~ $139
Samsung ODD ~ $21
Windows 8.1 oem ~ $125
Dell u2312hm 23inch ips matte panel ~ $248

You can go lower if you know how to bargain. The rest of the budget invest on a good mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse.

thanks for the fast reply man Roy! Any recommendations for a wireless adapter? Desktop will be in my room and wireless router in the leaving room outside.

also what's the difference between the b85m g43 and the gaming variant?

Gaming variant comes in a ATX board, a killer LAN, red dragon theme. Probably you will need to get another chassis also. Cause i recommend the 350D is an matx chassis. Smaller in size.

Probably can get the fractal design arc midi ~ $129

Wireless adapter will depends on your current connections. If it is a fibre broadband and your router is dual band type you can get a dual band wireless. Pcie or usb. Up to you.

No need if got no stock, is really no stock le. Those shops that still sell are selling at high prices, maybe at $279 or so. You can go for U2413M at $369 or so.... If not S2340L is also good. Diff is that it is glossy and no DP, but got HDMI. No VESA mount nor height adjustment.
