hi guys, looking to get a z97 mobo to pair with my intel cpu 1150 socket.

I was initially inclined toward the asus z97 pro wifi but it seems like there are better boards than that, such as the asrock extreme.

Any of you guys have experience on these mobos? other z97 mobos also can, intending to drop by sls to purchase this weekend.

Thanks guys

If u want to oc, u need a z97. Plus k cpu. No oc, can get h81, b85 and h97. Can use k or no k cpu. If u want to sli, get z97 with dual x8 pcie slots.

So depends on what you want. And budget.

oh i should perhaps clarify that i will be doing oc, so k cpu plus z97 mobo.

I'm split between these 3 mobos, really can't decide between them.

1) Msi Gaming 7
2) Gigabyte Gaming 7
3) Asrock Extreme 6
Help!!

Haswell OC also no need Z97. All chipsets can overclock due to Intel's negligence...

on that line, I should also seek advice regarding gpu.

1) Gigabyte 970
2) Asus Strix 970

I was considering the msi970 twin frozr, but i heard it does not have back plate. As I'm not sure how it will affect the mobo, i decided not to go with it

But I rather recommend not to OC since gains are hardly perceivable in games...

ultimately every z97 mobo should be able to achieve the same level of max OC. The difference between them, other than extra ports etc, lies in 1. ability to MAINTAIN the oc for long periods and 2. brand preference.

for 2, choose which ever brand you like best. Check online for reviews of the boards, see if any got problems, and just commit.

for 1, there should be some truth that a board with a 16 phase delivery sustains better than a board with 4 phase delivery. However, as with all electronics, luck factors heavily as well. Everything can and will fail. A more expensive board might statistically fail less often under extreme conditions; stats speak alot but prove nothing.

Anyway for me personally I like asus. But the other brands are great too.
