Need recommendations for 2017 rig overhaul

Hi all, i have this setup since 2017. Need recommendations for new rig overhaul

1) INTEL CORE I5-6500 SOCKET 1151 3.20 GHZ
2) GIGABYTE B150M-D3H SOCKET 1151 MOTHERBOARD
3) CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX 16GB (2 X 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2133MHZ C13
4) GIGABYTE N1060 G1 GAMING-6GD PCI-E 6GB GRAPHICS CARD
5) SUPERFLOWER SF-650F14MG LEADEX 650W FULL MODULAR 80 PLUS
GOLD PSU
6) COOLERMASTER N200 MINI TOWER CHASSIS

Would like to get a new rig for future proofing since I
1) going upgrade to Windows 11 at the same time
2) need USB C Port for motherboard and chassis for future proofing
3) new GFX for mid range gaming on 1440p Dell S2721DGF (i also game on PS5 so PC gaming not really priority)
4) wifi and bluetooth integrate in Mobo since currently im using usb adapter for both
5) 32 GB ram
6) form factor to be MATX or smaller if possible to save space

I have been out of touch from hardware specs since 2017. Not sure if budget $1000 is enough for all my requirement. I can use back my current SSD or get new one separately.

I have also check in with Aftershock but their recommended hardware setup is out of my budget ($2k ~)

Would prefer to get from Custom builder like Aftershock, invader PC etc if possible or if there really is substantial savings for me to go SLS and ask them to build for me then I also ok.

mayb can the new rig can last for the next 5-7 years similar like my current lifespan.

Games on PC mainly Action, RPG and FPS. Recent games are FF16, GTAV, Witcher 3 but playing on PS5.

Wait a few weeks for the new GPUs to drop and re-access your options. As for platform longevity, AM5 ryzen will be better option, you can drop in a new processor if require extra processing power in the future.

You can shop around for better deals but you can use Aftershock AMD combo L5 or Invader's Master M18 hardware specs as a rough baseline of what you should get. Most important, DO NOT get any gpu that only has 8gb VRAM.

$1k definitely not enough, especially if u want any semblance of "future proofing". the most it will get u nowadays is an entry level 8gb gpu (which is barely enough for 1440p gaming today) and very likely a previous gen cpu + mobo. yes aftershock has a 5600 + 7700xt for 999 which has a decent gpu for the price but the cpu is from 4 years ago, there is no type c anywhere and only has 16gb ram. suggest expanding ur budget to around 1.5k where ur options become much better.

Understand that i can up my budget abit to accomodate my requirements.

i am looking at this Invader PC Master M18 bundle recommended by @xonix. Seems like it met all my requirement except need to upgrade the ram to 32GB.

u missed another, the casing doesnt have type c. luckily, invader does offer a wide range case upgrades, and if u really want to save space, they have the asus ap201 that does have type c. the ram should be upgraded anyway, since it is of the slower 5600mhz variety, though the upgrade options are quite limited here. if u want to save some money, u can opt for the version with the ryzen 5 7600 which should perform very similarly.

AM4's value is nearing its end with B850 boards releasing and prices of boards dropping, most DIY builders are planning or shifted to AM5 including myself. If you don't move on from AM4 within the next month or two, its resale value will decline significantly so i don't recommend buying AM4 rig unless its used parts.

Even entry level AM5 CPUs surpasses AM4 X3D models in performance, and AM5 offers better tuning potential overall. As games become more CPU-intensive and new GPUs releasing, AM4 will struggle to stay relevant. AMD promises committing to for AM5 until at least 2027, so that's what you should be looking at.

If you want an mATX case, consider fractal design Meshify 2 mini, the case dimension 396 (L) x 205 (W) x 406 (H) mm can fit into a luggage. It has all the modern feature you ask for, USB-C, removable panels, removable filters, and its an actually decent air cooling case, otherwise just reuse your existing case.

If you want a long term build, you should not cheap out and get a decent mATX boards to set you up for the long run. I would consider the following mATX boards, B650 board prices should drop soon with B850 being released.

• Gigabyte B650M Aorus Elite AX
• Asus TUF Gaming B650M Plus WiFi
• MSI MAG B650M Mortar WiFi

As for the CPU just go with the cheapest first, probably 7500f or 7600 because your budget not that much. CPU cooler get something decent from thermalright, can't go wrong when you are on a budget.

For ram, i recommend either Teamgroup DDR5 6000MHz CL30-36-36-76 or Kingbank DDR5-6000MHz CL28-35-35-76. They are both Hynix-A dies about the same price (roughly $160) with kingbank one having better heatsink.

And for PSU, you should reuse your current PSU as long as the voltage readings are fine and not causing you any issues.

See how much you spend on all these then the rest budget go to your GPU.

Lastly, I don't recommend having a fixed mindset of must buy this part must buy that part, when the price is right that part is the right part as long as it is a decent part, that's how you DIY for cheap.

I only do the following upgrades:

- Changed graphics card from GTX 1050Ti to RTX4070
- Added RAM to 64 GB
- Changed 2TB SSD to 2TB NVME
- Change monitor from 32" LCD TV to 32" 4K LED TV

Everything else remain the same.

make sure ur mainboard support PCIE 4.0 else will bottleneck the 4070.
