Need recommendations for build

Hello,

I’m looking to build a small/mini itx desktop, looking for minimalistic cube kind casing and would need some advice on build

Usage: surfing web, lots of excels + powerpoints for work, light graphic work. I want to future proof this build in case I need to do a bit heavier graphics/ video. I also want to make sure the desktop doesn’t lag at all now and in couple of years

Looking to use ryzen 5 3600, not sure gpu can use 1660 or 1650 super


Do hope you guys can advice on a set up, if possible budget is 800 if not 1k

You want an ITX, where parts already cost more, but on a shoestring budget, and future proofed, "no lag" for the next couple years (which really all depends on the software you use and how much you spend on RAM, nvme, CPU, GPU)?

Try adding 1k to your budget or make do with a low-midrange PC.

general 3600 + 1650 super builds are already >$950, some more your preferred case is mini itx, cost is likely going to be higher. u will most likely need to increase your budget.

1K budget I would say use APU first with a good itx casing that can expand GPU.
Try wait for the coming soon Ryzen 4000 APU with a B450 itx board.
if R5 3600 build with GPU, will more than 1k budget.

Yep,.. ITX although they are smaller do cost a fair bit more. Those without the budget should not even talk about it.

If you are looking for a build to do :

Get a itx build with no GPU, either intel or amd platform.
Then you can add GPU when you needed for [a bit heavier graphics/ video].

If you know how to buy things from Taobao, then you can order some nice itx casing with psu in cheaper price ($154 + shipping).

Then buy the intel i3-10100 or AMD 3400g with a itx board + 16G RAM + 1TB NvME SSD.
This should match your budget for light work.

Let say PSU+casing ($180) + CPU (i3 $209 Lz.sg) + 16GB RAM (Amazon.sg, $86) + 1TB SSD (A.SG $189) + ASRock Z490M-ITX/ac (A.SG $262) = $ 926.

Then you can based on your extra budget to add a 2nd hand 2070 or upgrade cpu to higher tier.

AMD set:
ASRock B550M-ITX/AC - A.SG $183
AMD 3600 - $349 (Lz SG)
Zotec - 1660 super $350 (Lz SG)
Total - ~$1337

So if you know taobao, then can buy casing and psu from there.
Maybe take 600w SFX psu for enough power needed.

I wish I knew how to buy things off taobao! I’m very bad at it thus I rather get everything from sls or so ..

Noted on the GPU but why update you recommend to include it in right from the start if the budget is ok?

However, most of the AM4 itx board are out-of-stock quickly, you have to do some checking day2day.

The smaller case I found is matx/ITX case 9.9L

As newbee, I would not suggest any smaller case for you, since the CABLE MANAGEMENT is really pain in the @ss. You will find the cable is very hard to fit in a good way in smallest case.
Go youtube to look for smallest itx build and you will know.

i would be hesitant to purchase psus off taobao (even though i have bought tons of crap from there), especially for quality and warranty concerns. i suggest that u play it safe with your psu and buy it locally; its not worth to save a few dollars now to find your whole system fried a few years down the road, and should anything go wrong rma will also be quite a pita.
