Main purpose is gaming. According to CYRI with reference to current rig, GTA V is heaviest amongst my games.

Budget under $1k. No OC unless absolutely necessary.

Mainly need advice on mobo and gfx.

- Asus H97M-E or Plus (any other mATX mobo to consider?)
- i5 4590
- Kingston value ram 8gb
- Samsung Evo 850 250gb
- R9 380 4gb (red card preferred, need advice on which brand)

the rest reuse from current rig --->

planning to hoot tmr, so any advice is much appreciated.

I would recommend to go with Skylake platform. i5-6500 is good enough for gaming with any non-z mobo will be fine. The rest of the parts are okay.

I think one of the cheaper R9 380 4GB out there is from Powercolor. You can get it from Lazada and get further discounts if you have say Citibank CC.

I prefer the Sapphire Nitro series despite the shorter warranty. I feel the build quality is really solid. Longer warranty period is ideal, but based on past experience, if the distro goes out of biz, the warranty status becomes uncertain.

after some tinkering, this is what i have...

ASRock H170M Pro4 + i5-6500 --- 459
Kingston value ram 8gb --- 58
Powercolour R9 380 4gb PCS+ --- 339
Samsung Evo 850 250gb --- 123(lazada, other online stores may be cheaper, will keep looking)

total 979. all prices from pct except ssd.

one thing i failed to consider is usb 3.0
- buy front panel($20+), wait for $$$ come, hoot casing + aio cooler
OR
- buy casing, wait for $$$ come, aio cooler

gd point. i actually only need 1 front usb for game controller. problem is casing too old, front usb ports all rusted. guess i'll just diy something temporary until i get a new case or diy one to match my furniture.

stoopid me :s22: didn't sort by price.
anyways got it down to 98.
thks for the tip.

Get the Zotac Premium 240GB even cheaper. Performance about the same. You won't see any differences in real life usage anyway.
