Need some advice here on rust removal

Hi all, I recently bought this old AMD Socket AM2 mobo online to run some tests... However there a lot of rust around ports area. Is there anyway I can remove the rust?

Looking at the condition, I don't think it is worth the effort. The MB is probably worth about $10 so I would suggest you just use it as it is.

Personally I won't bother with the rust, too much effort.

Even using vinegar on it feels like a waste. Fill up a bucket with water + bleach solution, throw the thing inside, soak it for 1 day, wash thoroughly with water, and then leave it to dry for a week.

A week because that is roughly the time it takes for the water that seeps into the PCB to dry up.

$20 is too much. Most AMD motherboards build in 2009 era should be dying now. Hopefully you can use yours for at least one year

The cheapest brand new cpu+motherboard should be those low powered (<10w) quad core intel ones at taobao. You can get from $73 onwards. Comes with usb 3, sata 3, hdmi, gigabit ethernet, 4k video decoder.

Much better than buying an old motherboard which may die anytime soon, and is energy inefficient, consuming 65-90w of power
