Dear all

Computer software/experts

Need some help here regarding this issue (my dad's old computer)

He is using old machinery thus did not change this computer - seems like a old win 95

Was working fine and used about 2-3 weeks back.. and today...

He turned on the computer (press button from CPU this morning) and the button had no power, so he went to change a small piece of battery but it still would not load and this screen keep appearing!

Anyone can shed some light on this issue? Much Appreciated!!

since is old school

ide hard disk is not always auto-detect

so go to your bios... and detect the hard disk

this is because u took out the battery... all the previous settings are back to default

I hope you got a backup.

Why not run the software in a virtual machine instead?

if it runs on serial port...VM is possible... but if it have some unique SCSI or whatever i/o card... such hardware cannot be easily emulated

i recommend u to back up your data to another Harddisk while you can, your current hdd maybe failing soon and you are currently experiencing the early symptom for it.

i dun think your father should repair that pc anymore if it fail, buying a new and lowend pc can solve a lot of headache and it last longer.
