Hi all! Need some help / opinions here..
Problem: 5 year old PC restarts after powered up for ~2 seconds.
How it happen: was using my desktop for some light surfing when it suddenly restarts itself. And it has been that way until I turn off the power.
What I have done / actions performed so far:
1) Clean as much dust as possible off the fans, and places where dust collects.
2) Did the paper test clip on the PSU.
3) Powered up 1 component at a time to test that they are working.
4) Check for out-of-shape capacitors on the mother board.
Results:
1) PSU pass paper clip test.
2) Powered up all components at once except motherboard and fans connected to motherboard. No restart.
3) No "blown" capacitors found.
Components:
1) Mobo - MSI P43 Neo3
2) CPU - AMD Athlon? 8840 series? Don't remember. Quad core.
3) GPU - Powercolor Radeon 4850 HD
4) PSU - Andyson 500W (which model exactly, not sure).
5) HDD - WD Caviar Blue 320GB
6) RAM - Kingston 2GB x2
I know my system is old. And likely culprit is either the mother board or cpu. Please give some opinions on why my desktop is behaving this way.
