Can someone please advise if it is possible to add a graphic card to a pc that has an integrated card. If possible, how to choose a suitable graphic card and how to install in PC. Alternatively can recommend where to go for such service.

Let us know the specifications of your current PC+LCD Monitor so that we can recommend appropriate hardware.

Also, what are you planning to run with the graphics card ?
E.g. what type of games etc...

In the mean time, you can watch this video for an basic idea on how to upgrade GPU ( and PSU if necessary )

Read somewhere in this forum that where audio and video functions share the same card it is called integrated card. Correct me if i am wrong just started learning about computers when run into some problem. As for the specifications i looked up under the device manager and can only find the following info:

PC : HP compaq
Intel Core 2 duo CPU
Video : Codecs
Display Adapters : Intel Q35 Express Chipset Family

Monitor : HP 2311F

Used PC bought abt 5mths ago at $80. Used monitor bought less than a month ago. Monitor appear to be responding slow during typing, scrolling and downloading. Also tried connecting a media player to the monitor hdmi input but when hdmi selected on monitor shows "No Signal". Consulted media player salesperson and was told problem related to EDID. Dont have a clue what that is but was told by the salesman need to change graphic card. Hope someone could offer me some advise as to the cost of replacing the card. Or given the cheap price of my PC would I be better off to get a compatible PC.

Mine resembles the 1st one Mini Tower. However my model only has 2 USB instead of 4. Wanted to attach an image but unable to do so as not familiar with posting thru a link. Tried turning the PC inside out but hardly a clue to the model. Appreciate the effort taken in narrowing down the models. Txs

Hmm... U can try some cheaper, older cards out there that's in ranges of $250 n below. Try the price list in the hwz.

Then u can open up ur pc, measure the clearance from front to back at the graphics card slot.

Narrow down the gfx u want, go online google for the official card website, click on its specs n try to find the measurements.

Don't end up buying a card that is too big n can't fit in.

And then, u also need to find out your psu wattage whether if its enough to support the gfx. Min power requirements can also be found at the website of the gfx.

Though, I think 20 to 50 watts lesser than recommended is fine too.

Edit: I guessing most probably your pc doesn't meet wattage requirements. The most is probably around 300W. That's my guess though. Lol

I think most important of all, u need to know if your mother board have a graphic slot, which is pci-e x 16 slot, if there is, then u can buy from pc garage for a cheap graphic card, may be 512M type of single slot, just cost u 20-30 buck. If your MB support a external graphic slot, then your power supply may also has enough juice to support a additional graph card. But frankly speaking, adding a cheap graphic card only free from the share ram and run faster but not playing a fast game

just my 2 cents
