Need to change PSU?

My current system is an intel quad q9550 with asus p5ql-e motherboard.
My last upgrade was 4-5 years back , and i remember had to change psu because the connectors are different or something like that..
Wonder if I upgrade my cpu and m/b now to haswell chipset, do I need to change my psu?

The last time it probably introduced the 24 pin mobo cable. Actually there is a convertor from 20 to 24 or vice versa and no need to change the whole psu. Other than that, should be physically the same. At least thats what my 4 year old seasonic psu looks like.

If your psu is 4-5 yrs old, best is to get a new 1.. it is near its lifespan limit liao.

During the transition from Pentium III to power hungry Pentium 4 right? That was a long time ago.
