Hi,

Just reopened my PC after 1 LONG year of idling in the storeroom.

I want to know if I should reapply the paste? Will the paste be dried after this long? I read online a lot of people don't change the paste for 2 years+.

Any suggestions?

Note: I have not power on the PC yet. Awaiting confirmation from the pros here ;)

Can u check and post your current cpu temperature when u power on? U can also do a cross check online (comparison with similar cpu temp) to see if your temperature is norm before deciding.

IMO u shouldn't need to change the TIM unless your rig is stored in a very low humidity for a long period of time. Singapore humidity quite high...

Through bios - simple way

Unless u wanna run your PC for a while playing games or bench to see the real stretch of your TIM delta T then u need some tools - u can Google for those online easily...

Tried powering on my PC but nothing coming up on the monitor, can't go bios. Fans still working though. I noticed there's no beep.

I don think that got to do with TIM... If cpu overheat once u power on it will shutdown instantly... Fan shouldn't spin...

Thermal paste is to fill the microscopic gap

You only care if it is dry if you were using toothpaste

But back to my first question. Should I reapply the paste? It's actually been 2 years since I first applied it.

Check the CMOS battery too; i have similar cases that are solved only when I replaced it.
