Am new to nas so been reading up alot on nas due to the fact I have a htpc with probox(das).
Most of the nas are using atom, and newer models are going to celeron and i3.
The trend for current nas users seem to want higher processor power. But power consumption for nas has always been the selling point.
2ndly, some nas are going towards just being a server but rather a media player andbthe ability to transcode 1080p is a good feature.
The questions I have are
1)can nas transcode 30+gb to your tablets, flat screen tv in room?
2)Rather than have a htpc and another nas with high processing power, a das will be a better choice right?
Below pic is my htpc running i3, asushd7750 & a bluray drive & 3hdd in a probox playing bluray iso file. 93watts.
When no movie is played. In windows environment, power drops to 72watts.
Im in a bind to get a Nas(synology/qnap) or stardom deck rack.
Anyone can advice me on any factors which might affect the decision of nas n das?
Thanks.
