This video suggested the bulk of debris flow is from the saturated soil on the valley wall and riverbed. Now is south asia monsoon season the land is full of water.

Look at the videos of the debris flow not really water, more like liquefied soil/mud. Dense enough to support the weight of knocked down concrete bridge decks.
