if you got spare cash, just buy and HODL. this stock will only go up (at least till trade war settled), so don't worry much. It's one of the rare safe stocks that pays 5% ROI.

I see that the stock keep rising. At what price does it fall below 5% dividend payout?

Why so? Is it because the physiological limit for dividend is about 5% and share price won’t increase if dividend hovers about 5%?

Simplistically put, I think it’s more of a relative value analysis.

Most of the large industrial REITs are trading at 5%+ dividend yield in Singapore.

Analysts feel that Netlink is a monopoly and a very stable asset and therefore should trade slightly tighter than the large industrial REITs, which have less income stability.

Hence, a 5% dividend yield was used as a benchmark to justify the relatively better quality of Netlink vs the industrial REITs. If it trades well below 5% yield, analyst feel that this argument may be stretched, unless there is a strong growth catalyst.

If in the future, Netlink’s revenue grows stronger than expected, or its gross profit margin widens more than expected, then its dividend yield will increase and this will lend further support to its share price (and vice versa).

I keep hearing about 5G being mentioned as a threat to Netlink.

But I'm betting that a lot of people dun really fully understand what 5G is all about and the impact it will have on our lives when it's implemented.

I will recommend a recent show on cna Why it Matter - The Race to 5G to understand the issues a bit better.

Video link >> HERE

There are still technical limitations to 5G implementation that will not be ironed out in the initial rollout years.

And even when fully implemented, most consumers may not even need it or be willing to pay extra for it. Especially businesses that may not need all those extra bandwidth when 4G is currently sufficient for their need.

2G/3G co-exists with 4G for many years and the 3G network is still around. An article in zaobao reports that 3G may be switched off in 2025. ( English report here )

So 4G will continue to remain relevant for many years to come.

And Netlink will continue to be relevant as long as the 4G network is needed.

Will 4G be irrelevant one day? Maybe when 5G really becomes mainstream and 6G starts rolling out. And who knows when that will be?

5G or not, backhual will still be connected by dark fibre to internet exchanges.

People must first understand how the internet/network are wired/connected first .....

Good for people in the know to continue receiving good dividend yields while the outsiders keep shouting 5G will takeover everything.

From what I am seeing, the 5G promoters are still trying to find good use case for it, there isn't a simple to understand use case that 5G will fit in naturally. And we still dunno how much 5G data plans will cost, people will have no incentive to jump over if 4G suffice at a low cost.

Why is 5G considered a threat at all? Netlink's infrastructure will still be required as a backbone for the cell towers or equivalent, no?

Any costs incurred in new tech or upgrading will be passed back to the telcos anyway, given Netlink's monopoly. Don't think authorities will step in to block such things.

LOL... you mean the threat/risk of 5G not being able to roll out fully in 2-3 yrs time? 5G rollout and Smart Nation Project are 2 main drivers for additional revenue for NLT FYI if you aren't aware of this.:s22:
no. this counter is exposed to the threat of 5G which happens in 2-3yrs time.

netlink is still going strong today. finally breach the 1 dollar mark.

Hope it continues its ascendancy.

I am vested in this since end 2018. Expect the dividend to keep going up...

Happy CNY to all!
