Nets and minimum spend in shop?

Hi,

Has anyone been told that there's a minimum spend to use a Nets card in a shop? Got told today that the minimum was $30. I had to pay cash.

Nets doesn't impose any minimum amount. Minimum amounts are set by the shops, so the amount varies.

Why do they set a minimum?

Merchants are charged a certain percentage from Nets vendor for using Nets much like credit card: hence merchants tend to set minimum amount for Nets and credit card use.
