I need a suggestion for above mentioned for office use.

I need a suggestion for an Network drive (one of those that can connect to a switch or router by ethernet cable (RJ45) and shared by all the computers in the office and at the same time is able to provide remote access from the internet so that the data stored in it can be accessed from home during weekends. Of course, remote access has to be password protected too.

Most importantly the drive has to be capable of offering password protection individual file folders as well in order to prevent the different various departments of the company from accessing the data that is not relevant to their department.

This type of password protection utility and functionality is very important for this drive as the office I am working in deals with a lot of legal/regulations and sensitive information from various different clients.

No need such a big drive - 500gb is more than enough because mostly only document and excel files will be stored in it.

Anybody has any suggestions?

You can try looking at a Synology NAS.

If your office is in a Windows Domain, you can join the NAS to the domain.
End users will be able to access the NAS remotely using their Windows Domain account. Once you join domain, you can set folder ACL in the NAS directly.

Using the Synology apps, you can also access the files via tablets and mobile.

Of course your Synology NAS must be accessible on the Internet, preferably with its own IP Address.
