There are a very few lucky individuals born as U.S. dollar billionaires — “trust fund babies.” There are even a tiny number who are self-made millionaires before their first birthdays. (How? The baby has a famous parent, and tabloids online/offline are willing to pay a lot for baby photos.)
There are even certain jurisdictions where it’s at least difficult for a parent or guardian to steal all of a child’s self-made wealth. California has “Jackie Coogan” laws, for example.
In Singapore it’s fairly common for real estate crazed parents to set up a trust to buy property under a child’s name, primarily to avoid ABSD. I don’t think this is smart for a variety of reasons (as it happens), but it occurs.
