Hi folks. I'd like to build an AMD rig for video editing and gaming. Budget is less than $1.3k.
Need everything except OS and speakers.

Some requirements:
-ryzen 5 1600
-16gb RAM

Let's see some recommendations. Thank you!

My Current Buy,

CPU AMD Ryzen 5 1600 $300
MB MSI B350 Tomahawk $175 (Bundle set from PCTheme $475)
RAM Corsairs Vengeance RGB 2666Mhz DDR4 (2 x 8GB) $268 (Lazada)
SSD Samsung Evo 850 3.5" 250GB $99 (Lazada)
HDD WD Black 2TB WD2003FZEX $195 (Lazada)
GPU Galax GTX 1060 6GB OC $362 (Lazada)
PSU M12II-620 EVO $108 (Lazada)
Case Phanteks Eclipse P400S Temper Glass $149 (Lazada)

Total: $1656, Original Quote from PCthemes come up to $2000~ (some part is different from what i bought)

In the end Only CPU+Mobo get from PCThemes while the rest from Current 12.12 Lazada sales, I only use the 50% off 1st time purchase vouchers & 12% Off Vouchers.

for Video Editing, u might want a higher Clock speed RAM, e.g. 3000-3466Mhz & 7200RPM HDD.

What games are you looking to play? "gaming" is a very broad term.

Hi all. Thanks for the reply so far. Games I play most are fps games. Having said that, video editing would take precedence over games as I'll be editing most of the time on this build.

I've always had an impression that AMD builds are way cheaper than an Intel build. But looking at this few recommendations, am I right to say it would be almost around the same if I were to get an Intel build?

Of these items u quoted, which is the worth to buy from this 12.12 sale now?

i am currently doing my ryzen build as well. bought most of my parts from amazon nearer to 11.11 sale.

Gigabyte AB-350M
Ryzen 5 1600
EVGA 1060 3GB SC
Corsair Vegeance LPX 2x4GB 3000MHz

Total cost about USD530 (SGD730)...i think its quite a steal. The same part would have cost me at least 900+ in SLS.

From Lazada:
Samsung Evo 850 250GB - SGD119
Fractal Design Mini C - SGD95

Both good, both faster in different aspects. AMD Ryzen is very power efficient though.

FPS games like Overwatch or PUBG? Or Doom 3? Got a lot leh

Hi 5 man. We have near similar build but I have the 16gb sticks instead. Enjoying your ryzen 1600 so far? 😁

On a side note, electronics in singapore is seriously overpriced. Having Amazon cancelling it's free shipping is another blow for the diy community in Singapore

I would say the samsung ssd, $99.

Also the case, because it is free delivery to ur house instead buy from simlim and need to lug it back.

Carousell got pple sell cheapest imho and pickup place is @ Bukit Panjang which is near my house, so far he is the cheapest quote apple to apple item comparison, like 20 off PCtheme price and he have all the items that PCtheme have.

Reason nvr get from him is because he is hospitalize till Jan 2018 and i wanted the equipment now.

Oh sorryy... I just play the occasional battlefield series. Not really seriously gaming but it wld be nice to know that I have a rig capable of gaming.

And good point on the power efficiency. I didn't think of that. Thanks!

Would a 1050 ti be better at a cheaper price since it has an extra 1gb?

The additional threads on Ryzen should be useful for your editing purposes, compared to its equivalent i5 competitor.

@Hashketh, I would really love to give you my comments....but sadly my mobo has not arrived yet.:(

Amazon parts maybe cheaper, but you need to have patience. Btw, I did contemplate on getting 16Gb ram but my current laptop of 10gb is sufficient so i figure the desktop should hold up well.

I hope you are liking your system, alot of people seems to be going for Ryzen.
