For me personally I wouldn't say for sure it is the work of 390X as what the article suggest.

AMD's Radeon R9 390X ES Performance Numbers Allegedly Leaked - Faster Than The GeForce GTX 980, Consumes 197W in Gaming

Its probably look more like 380X or smth which is much more friendly from its power consumption. I am pretty sure to expect 390X card to be 250W or more behemoth.

If that card performance is really 380X its REALLY BADASS!
If this is really true, this will force Nvidia to come out with their true big die Maxwell GM200/210 earlier than expected.

The thing now is when will this R390X be out?

Hopefully by end of this year...

If they are on 20nm process, I believe they will be cheaper than GTX 980.

Anyway I believe AMD isnt satisfied with just 197W card with only 16% performance improvement over 980. Hence my assumption this is 380X.

If the alleged specs of GM200 is true, The big Maxwell will hv 50% more CUDAs than GTX 980 which means ALOT of performance over this "pirates king" card. Something from AMD has to be better to compete with GM200.

Whatever it is, hopefully it is really that good. And the price is decent.

Been too long since we have an actually have a good G-card war.

There always been a war, the only difference the war has been rather high side for the price recently.

I miss those days the real giant flagship card never exceed $499 USD.

Performance and power consumption looks good. Only thing left is the price.

Btw, I don't mind a 250W card if its going to be alot faster than 290x. IMHO, I prefer raw performance over power consumption for GPUs. This is because GPUs have been mostly the limiting factor in games rather than CPU.

If this is so I really hope that the card will be super cooled too. The problem with amd is always temperature.

Not really surprised. I think Nvidia is throwing out the free game bundles with the 900 series to quickly clear stock. Then they'll release something that beats what AMD offers.

The new 390x comes with a hybrid water cooler similar to 295x. But in order for that kinda cooler u need to generate alot of heat hence it must be a pretty power hungry card. So yes the temp will be lower but that means the card shld be at least in the range of 250-300w (which is why i said captain jack is just a smaller brother given the 194w)

I am hoping 390x will be as fast as 295x2!:D

But I agreed that if the card consumes less than 200W there is no point in WC at all. Makes the card expensive to manufacture only.

Not only that, u make the card unnecessarily bulky, and more troublesome because u have to allocate extra space for the radiator and fans.

agreed. the Gtx 970 is priced so well and selling so damn well, why on earth they need to give game code?

to quickly push out 970 stock to make way for something else
