New AMD Ryzen gaming rig advice

Hey guys, my existing rig which has served me well since 2014 has finally given up the ghost this morning (perfect timing, I know), so I'm looking to build a new gaming rig to last me the next couple of years.

Main usage is AAA games at UWFHD Ultra for the next 3-4 years, acting as a plex server for 4K Dolby Vision/Atmos content and general computing use. Not looking to overclock or SLI/crossfire.

This is what I'm thinking of getting so far:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo: MSI B450 Tomahawk max
Graphics: Nvidia RTX 2070 Super - appreciate your recommendation. Considering Zotac Super Amp
Monitor: Prism+ X300 (already purchased)
Ram: 16GB any recommended brand?
OS HDD: 1TB SSD
2nd HDD: 2TB TBD later
Case: Considering Fractal design Define series
KB/mouse/blu ray - existing units.

Appreciate your recommendations and where to buy

Ah thanks for the heads up on zotac. Any other brands you recommend? Or you suggesting I manually adjust the fan curves?

I would either go for the 3700X or stretch up for the 3900X as the difference between the 3700X and 3800X is only 300Mhz.

If you have a budget for the 3800X I would save the $80 bucks, get the 3700X and use it elsewhere OR top up an additional $100 to get and additional 4 cores

Go for MSI.

Also, get a Hyper 212x CPU cooler or H7.

It's decent and much better than the Intel stock cooler. But at high load it can get quite loud. And since Ryzen boost is very temperature specific, it's best not to skimp on this.

I asked them on Sunday and they said they'd still be open since the lockdown does not impact computer parts and repair shops.

But, if they all shut down as well then it's news to me

Haha, yeah I agree with you on this.

I was aiming for the 3800X, then realized the price diff for just 1% in real world performance, so I went for the 3700X and diverted the cash for something else.

Nope. Went down yesterday, only repair and fnb shops are open. Retail all closed

It's a decent air cooler. You can always use it first and upgrade later if you find the cooling inadequate. I assume you are referring to the Wraith Prism RGB.
