The US version comes with "Siri remote" whereas SG version comes with "Apple TV Remote". It looks exactly the same. Apple TV Remote also have the Siri button. I think even though you get the SG version of the new Apple TV, you can still use Siri as long as you set the region to US.

This is indeed weird why apple didn't integrate Siri into SG directly. Maybe it's licensing issue with the movie searches.

Yes, there is a difference. Airplay a media file from iTunes (now you can airplay from QuickTime player as well as YouTube videos in safari in Mac OS X 10.11 El capitan) to apple TV, it will buffer the video/audio file to the apple TV, so that the video/audio will play smoothly and without stuttering.

However, if you use airplay mirroring to apple tv while you play a movie file on iPhone or Mac, the iPhone/Mac will stream your entire screen to the Apple TV in real time, so there's no buffering. Hence the video file will not be smooth, and have occasional stuttering.

So if you use an iphone app (such as VLC for ios) to play a movie file on the Apple TV, always choose "airplay" (if available) over "airplay mirroring"

The current Apple TV OS actually able to detect the content when it is mirrored to the Apple TV from the iOS device. For example, you turn on airplay mirroring, browse photos and videos in the Photos app, then when you come across a video in your photo library, the Apple TV will switch from "airplay mirroring" to "airplay", so the video will buffer and play smoothly. When the video ends, it will switch back to "airplay mirroring". This is also applicable when you browse the Web using safari and come across a Web video.

However this doesn't always work on all 3rd party apps. So it depends on the developer to integrate this switching feature in their apps.

That should be the way! More "clever" mah! At least Apple expose (a little bit) of API for 3rd-party dev to exploit optimization (as & when necessary).

Have seen some post on it on top but not very clear on this. I also wonder if there will be a lot of app available under the TV OS, similar to the app store ?

Well, if the media files in your NAS are imported into your iTunes library, you can acess those media without using an iOS mobile device, I suppose.

Definitely have, just a matter of time. I've tons of SMB / NAS / UPnP / DLNA streaming apps but my all time favourite (universal) is still Infuse 3, hopefully they will make it to Apple TV soon. Not many apps out there can play Dolby Digital Plus (AC3/E-AC3), DTS & DTS-HD audio but this baby can.

But if the theater is being fed from the Apple TV's output, & the Apple TV can't even handle DTS, how does it pass the DTS data to the theater system.

Exchange rate USD to SGD: 1.39

more $$$ for Apple. Nevertheless, I still ordered the 64GB version.
