I usually try to buy sports shoes when I am in Japan mainly because they have nicer designs... and after a few years of buying shoes, I discovered that if you want to buy such sports shoes, get them during their Winter period.
They become cheaper all of a sudden.
So far I've managed to get all my shoes (nike, reebok, NB, puma, fila) for under 5000yen and they look pretty decent.
