New Bmobile X Sim - Good for big data users

Bmobile has a new data plan called the X Sim.

Only the highest tier plan might interest some of you here, the lower tier plans are more expensive than the plans already available for travellers...

The sim package is 3,000JPY+tax.
On top of the SIM, you need to pay for the plan fee. The top plan offers 2.2GB per month at 1,505JPY+tax.

This could be the ticket for those not wanting to use a unlimited MIFI plan but the standard 1GB sim card is insufficient. Buying 1 X Sim is cheaper than buying 2 x 1GB sim card.

This card can be ordered online and delivered to anywhere in JP. The other way is to buy in the stores but you have to wait for it to activate....

I almost already ordered it online through their website already. I stopped at the last confirmation page on their online website. It is a possible that they will cancel my order but I don't think so. Considering that you can order it online straightaway, they might not be checking for alien registration card? Since the phone is tied to your credit card account, I guess this provides the security.

The X Sim is only a data sim card, it has not voice capability. This makes it no different from the FREE sim or the tourist sim...

Here is the final price for those who wants to know (I was choosing the 1GB plan only)

月額基本料：972円（税込）
ユニバーサルサービス料：3.24円（税込）

But just in case some people thinks this is just like the tourist sim, it is not. This was meant for mobile internet users in Japan. On their online FAQ site, they stated that foreigners can use this card. 3 days to deliver the sim card from the day after you order online. If you buy from the shop, it will be more troublesome.

I found some troublesome detail that might deter would be buyers...

this is a contract... while there is no minimum contract duration, you are billed every month automatically. So if you want to stop the contract, you have to login online to do it one day before the final date.
