looking for feedback for my home server. will be reading and writing lots of small files and doing several video encoding streams at once (720p-4k).

planning for ryzen 2700 + msi b450 gaming pro carbon (wanted asus strix b450-f but msi reviews is better, bit of a pity with this msi board is that it don't have bios online update and when both m2 slots are in use, only 1 pcie slot is available.). another reason for selecting this mobo is it also has intel lan and bonus wifi/bluetooth.

will be getting just one samsung m2 nvme 970pro for now.

was thinking of getting b-die memory but i dont think the sls pricelists list the model numbers and not sure which model to look out for... especially those without led. any suggestions for 2x16gb kit (or 2x8gb kit) with b-die and where to get them would be appreciated!

i'm thinking of getting these parts from amazon if possible since the savings would be over $100 despite the lack of local warranty, except maybe the mobo (but still thinking...)

Instead of Amazon, you can also buy from Newegg SG.

Shipping is free, and the price is better than local usually.

You probably will never need ram warranty so it's pretty safe to buy from Neweg/Amazon

Tip: Newegg will quote you 2 price: with GST and w/o GST

Most of the time, W/o GST price is the cost you need to pay. Dont be confused

Not all items have free shipping. U must see the FREE SHIPPING label on top of the item whean searching to get it. Also, make sure seller is NEWEGG instead of others.

Yes, I agree. Most items but not all have free shipping. Usually, bulky items wont have.

For my items, i see other sellers selling more ex than newegg. Dun see a point in getting from them. Coz if gt any issues, Newegg cant interfere. U need talk to seller directly. Its a risk bah.

Thanks a lot for the tips! I always look at the GST prices on Newegg, glad to know that isn’t the final charge. Will buy direct from Newegg seller if I need to. Already bought the Samsung SSD from amazon Prime Now, very decent price!

Unfortunately ryzen 2700 and MSI carbon pro mobo is out of stock at Newegg and amazon.. maybe I’ll get the mobo in the shop after all!

Any suggestions for ram? Having a hard time searching for a decent set of 2x16GB kit that is in stock..

Type ddr4 in search bar. Then under filter, select newegg as seller, 2x 8gb under capacity and apply. Then rearrange from price lowest to highest and take your pic.

For ryzen 2700, try primenow app? It corresponds to the price fluctuation in amazon itself.

🤦*ā™‚ļø Forgot about the awesome Newegg filters, found a nice set with free shipping sold by Newegg but seems like rams are definitely expensive now, a premium especially the Samsung b dies. 470sgd for 32gb damn.. more expensive than the cpu..

I got a set of 2x 8gb for $124, so 32gb is only $248. If u choose more fanciful ones or b-dies, cfm even more ex. But can u see or feel the difference?

You’re right, the $200-$250 premium not worth the performance stability. Hmm now I wonder if I should just get any cheap ones

quite a few used or new ddr4 ram with local warranty from time to time, price can be reasonably good. without warranty units price can be lower. bought mine used 32gb 2666mhz for 260 w local warranty.

Any idea why the same item is available in amazon.com but not available on Prime Now? Also got same item available on Prime Now but not on amazon.com, like the ryzen cpus (2600/2700) and msi mobos
