Here the story goes:

I just finished assembled my DIY comp. I have my graphics card and SSD connected. Boot up the computer and put in Window 10 cd. I see the Window logo, wait, screen turn blue, wait long time, error appears.

I decided to remove my graphics and try again, same thing happens.

Decided then to swap out the SSD and put in old HDD (not yet reformat) with 8.1 windows in it just to try things out. Surprisingly 8.1 window works and I manage to get into desktop. I thought I lucked out and decided to install Window 10 coz I know I can migrate to SSD later.

Went through the installation process, asking me what to keep, I choose none coz I want a fresh/clean install. Data already backed up on external HD. Went into the same screen with SSD and then error appears. Reset, this time does not goes into desktop.

Need help desperately.

If it helps my build are MSI Gaming 5, i5k series, Samsung 850 Pro, Seasonic M series, GTX 750 Ti, both Optical Drive and HDD were salvage from old pre-built Acer Predator G 3260 bought from courts.
(Note: throughout the whole process a keyboard was connected via USB 2.0)

Go to bios, under your hard disk settings change the setting for the sata port you connected your SSD to. I forgot what are the selections and what they do but try changing it. Last time used to have Hdd error but changed the sata port setting resolved already. Just my two cents but duno will work anot.

Thanks, will try when I get back from work. Now just trying to compile a list of solutions to try when I get home. Are there anymore?

Found the selection, its IDE / AHCI, if it is in AHCI change to IDE. That's the only thing I can think of.. Anyway to answer your question about clearing bios, you can either go in and reset settings, or on your mobo look for CLR_CMOS or something along that line depending on build. Short it by touching the two pins using screw driver or any metallic objects. Another way you can do is to remove the CMOS battery and wait for 10min est. depending on manufacturer to do a hard bios reset.

not sure about switching from ahci to ide will help. modern ssd/hdd should run on ahci mode.

some makers have updated bios for windows 10 support. you should update that first before switching. you can flash bios by usb (download bios from a laptop or somewhere else). otherwise...boot into your working version of windows. download MSI live update and update from there.

try downloading iso image for the version of windows you are trying to install and use that for installation.

check your hardware for windows 10 compatibility.

Switching from ACHI to IDE works. Manage to finish installing Windows 10. However if were to switch back to ACHI, I can't get into desktop. Well that a problem for another day. I just happy to have a workable computer now.

Nothing to do with reseting BIOS. If I think about it, I only just built this comp. No way I could have affect BIOS when I couldn't even enter Windows setup.

Anyhow I thank all who took their time to read through my problems and give their insight. Thank you.

It is known issue to BSOD upon boot if you use a different mode from what you installed with.

But there is a way. You can operate in IDE mode, change registry settings to AHCI, the reset in AHCI mode. Google for the guide.

i was thinking "unexpected i/o" error could be related to the dvd media/iso or dvdrom...

if still same error after trying earlier suggestns 1st, perhaps try installing via usb. and if is downloaded iso, check hash sum...
