Hi All,

Looking to build a gaming rig that i can OC as well. Looking to go slightly mid to high end with a good GFX and MB. Need some advice and opinion on my tentative build and what i can scale down to fit a $1600 budget without SSD. Below my desired Specs. Please help me scale down on un-necessary parts or overpriced items. Thanks...

MSI Z87 G45 Gaming + i5-4670k
Kingston HyperX SE 1600MHz CL9
Seagate 1TB
Intel 530 240gb SSD (Re-using my own)
MSI R9 280X 3GB Gaming (*Can be swapped to other brands)
Seasonic M12II 620W 80+
CM Storm Scout II
Any ODD
CoolerMaster Seidon 120V Water Cooling Kit

OS is mobo bound, not SSD bound... No such thing as install OS into ssd and can install OS into any com. OS is not like thumbdrive.

You can call up microsoft and ask them to help deactivate your OEM OS from old mobo, tell them mobo uplorry le, getting new 1. Then ask if can reset it.

All looks good. can consider superflower HX600w psu. and change the seagate 1tb to wd blue 1tb.

And do you need the hyperX SE? makes no diff in gaming...Unless you are going for looks.

Msi r9 280x 3gb twin frozr ~ $ 440
Superflower hx600 600w 80 + gold efficiency ~ $ 109
Fractal design arc midi ~ $ 129
Samsung odd ~ $ 21
Corsair h100i ~ $ 150

Total $ 1535 buy at tradepac. Diy

Thanks for the tweaks and pricing bro, just curious, is the H100i abit overkill? will prob need to rethink my casing options considering the H100i needs to be mounted at the top of the casing rite?

H100i is just enough imo.

Cause 120v is gonna be a bit heated up too fast. The fins are just too thin.

Fractal design arc midi can mount 240mm rad at the top

If you are gonna OC a lot, the bigger surface area and thickness will help.

Front also can, but you need to move the btm hdd cage nearer to the psu, and can do psuh or pull nia. Want push/pull, i tink need to mount hdd cage onto btm fan slot.

Agree with your logic. Thanks bro.

Not too keen on the Fractal casings, assuming i prefer top fitting on a Cooler Master / Corsair casing, any recommendations for non-mod fits?

corsair 550d? or CM 690III... But one thing about CM is their mesh. Hell a lot of it everywhere. Attracting dust nia...

Or you want something big, can try 750D or Air 540 by corsair.
