Hello gurus,

Need help customizing a new gaming pc.

I have a gpu in mind (EVGA's GeForce GTX 780 Ti), have no intention to mess around with overclocking, and my budget is around $2.5k.

The budget does not include peripherals (mouse, keyboard, speakers etc.), and will be using the com mostly for gaming. Need advice on what kind of set-up the cpu should look like, and where is a safe place to build the com without too great a risk of getting fleeced.

Thanks peeps.

1) List down the games that you wish to play with your rig.

2) Must your GPU be EVGA? There are cheaper alternatives avaliable and they come with local distro warranty too.

Msi b85 g43 gaming + i5-4460 ~ $384
GSkills Ripjaws 1600mhz 2x4gb kit ~ $115
WD Blue 1tb ~ $67
Crucial mx100 256gb ~ $152
Msi gtx780 3gb Twin Frozr ~ $715
Seasonic g650 650w 80+ gold semi modular PSU ~ $139
Xigmatek Odin ~ $99
LG DVD drive ~ $21
Windows 7 home premium 64bit OEM ~ $115

Total ~ $1807. Buy at Tradepac. Diy

You do not need to spend a fortune on a 780ti if it is just a 1080p display.

Alternative GPU will be the Powercolor r9 290x pcs+ ~ $688

Slightly cheaper but a bit hotter but performs better than 780.

Please put the PC on the desk instead of the floor.

Thanks for swift reply.

Looking to play Civ 5, its upcoming release Civilizations: Beyond Earth at full settings. Dragon Age Inquisition, Witchers 3: Wild Hunt, and Watch Dogs as well.

But yes, will only be running at 1920*1080 resolution mostly.

Any recommendations for a full pc setup? Totally lost in this. Appreciate help greatly.

Not hard-up on EVGA, but read that they're a reliable manufacturer. Also, I meant where in Sim Lim can I get all these parts for a fair price (and have them build it as well).

Thanks for the input thus far!

Well for EVGA gpus, it is quite hard to find in SG. Although no doubt they make good gpus. But in SG there are only a few selected models brought in by convergent.

As for recommendations apart from the $1.8k standalone rig price. You could invest the rest of the budget on good peripherals. Good peripherals such as mechanical keyboards, and a certain particular gaming mouse goes a long way.
