Hi I'm looking to build a new gaming rig.
Need help from you pros out there.
Just need the CPU and OS itself dont need mouse/keyboard/speaker/monitor
Enough to play titanfall smoothly, not for hardcore gaming.
Budget is around $1,200.
Wondering if I should install the OS on a 240 gb SSD or just have a 1tb HDD?
Looking at the sharkoon t28 case and also an 8gb ram (dual channel?)

Anyone can advise on the parts i should be getting?
I understand that all the parts can be bought at tradepac,
Would they assemble it for me also? any additional cost?

First time doing DIY so i would need all the help and advise i can get.
Thanks in advance guys :)

As you said play games, current stable OS now is Windows 7. You can opt for Windows 8.1 /Pro but be warned that not all games currently support Windows 8.1 for now.
TitanFall should be able to run on Windows 8.1.

You can run on SSD but costly and storage is little. If you gonna to load lots of stuff into your storage, I suggest you to get HDD.

SSD will slow down when capacity reaching to full stage. This will also degrade the life span.
Normally, OS will be installed into SSD only and others stuff like songs, games or personal data will kept into HDD.

I just work out with your budget, most likely you can get HDD only as 240GB SSD is costly and RAM would be around 8GB and CPU will be likely i5.

Refer to 2nd Post. Hailgod updated with his RIG.
This should run titanfall on 1080p quite well

i would suggest u to get SSD from amazon though. Amazon.com: Crucial M500 240GB SATA 2.5-Inch 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal Solid State Drive CT240M500SSD1: Computers & Accessories

Tradepac will sell most of the hardware quite a lot cheaper than mynextcom does
-- Note --
If anyone out there have another best RIG, please update. Thx

What game is supported by 7 but not 8.1? i would like to know that.
SSD has come a long way since the start. Its not that expensive and it doesnt really slow down even if its almost full.
SSD is used to contain os + games. A single OS doesn't take 240gb. More like 20gb.

This should run titanfall on 1080p quite well

This is the work out price using Fuwell Price List.

Mainboard + CPU : MSI H81M-E35 + i5 4670. ($382)

GPU: Palit GTX660 OC 2GB DDR5 ($290)

RAM: G-Skill RipJawX 1600MHz CL9 ($115)

Storage: Seagate 1TB ($65)

Casing: Sharkoon T28 ($89)

Power Supply: Corsair CX500M Modular 500W ($99)

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium ($120)

Total $1160.

Left $40 for etc like fan or thermal paste. Or else, transport fare.

Anyway, this may not be the best setup. I always recommend i7 for gaming.

-- Note --
This is not the best setup so if anyone out there have another best RIG, please update. Thx

I think you might want to stay back and let roy, moneyface or jian do the recommendations.
Why a gtx 660 instead of a r9 270x
Why corsair vengence overpriced ram for people on a budget
Why corsair cx.
Oh and not to forget, why a i5 4670 when the i5 4570 is $20 cheaper.
EDIT: Oh my god. I just read your last line. "You always recommend i7 for gaming"
Please, Just don't.

Hi, thanks for your input. As I said my setup wasn't the best. This is just a rough idea of the market price listed. I did stated below to update the price list if anyone has better price range and hardware.

Just drop to ivy and go for a better gpu. I will recommend tradepac to fully utilize your budget. But please do your homework for the selected items before heading down. And please do not let them steer you to buy other components that you do not know. Only buy components that you know. Follow the list strictly. Price may differ +/- $30.

Go for single channel rams. You do not benefit much from dual channel performance.

Asrock b75m dgs + i5 3350p ~ $271
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz ~ $89
Wd blue 1tb ~ $76
Kingston v300 120gb ~ $115
Powercolor r9 280x 3gb non turbo duo ~ $404 (try to find if not turbo duo is $35 away)
Fsp hexa 500w 80+ ~ $58
Sharkoon bd28 ~ $77 (replacement model for t28)
Samsung ODD ~ $21
Windows 7 home premium 64bit oem ~ $115

Total ~ $1225. Buy at tradepac. Diy
