Hi peeps, I bought my desktop bout 5yrs ago and I'm planning to change my GPU. But I'm not sure whether it is compatible for my motherboard. any suggestion which GPU should I go for? (mainly use for gaming)

budget would be best around or less than $500?

Less than $500.. would be R9 390 or if you prefer green camp, GTX970.

I got my MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G 4GB DDR5.. $480.

*EDIT: paiseh everybuddy, remember price wrongly. $570 after bargaining.. listed was $609. From Fuwell.

Tradepac didn't wanna budge.

Black red la.. I checked. I bargain mah.. I forgot which store, I asked only Tradepac and this particular one.. random, price lower for me, I okay, pay & go. Later I check my receipt.

Was told the next day have minor price increase.

(Maybe not nice to reveal. later all go back the store ask for this price haha)

ur rig will bottleneck the 970. I was using a 5yo rig with 970, now I upgraded my rig, my 970 performance was much better.

Your Nehalem vs Sandy Bridge is the biggest IPC difference after Conroe in recent era.... His SB is pretty much still very relevant.

You can see where your Core i5-750 stands versus Sandy Bridge Core i5-2500K versus current Haswell:

Not to mention Pci-E is 2.0 and not 2.1 or 3.0 so yeah.. time for upgrade...at least your cpu +board can fetch ard 100bucks or lesser in garage sale...

another option is to hunt for 6990 2nd hand ard 150bucks..
