New HDDs causing computer to slow down

So I bought two 1TB Western Digital Red HDDs to pair in RAID 1.

After installing I find that my system suddenly slows down very badly. When checking processes under Task Manager one item "System Interrupt" occupies a lot of CPU time. The graph shows continuous spikes indicating CPU activity.

I went to Device Manager and disabled the new RAID volume and the problem seemed to go away. So I think it is the new HDD causing some sort of problem.

Google says it can be some kind of driver issue. However I'm not sure how to fix the HDD drivers, or RAID drivers (I am using Windows RAID).

So my Q, how to go about fixing these drivers? Also how can I make sure that there is nothing wrong with the new HDDs?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Is this the first time you're running raid? From my understanding, software raid will have performance hit as compared to hardware raid

I read an article that there is no difference in performance. Even mobo RAID is considered to be a form of software RAID.
