Hi fellows, my hardware version's v7.2 & though I got 3-finger gestures & 2-finger scrolling working, I've no pinch & zoom. My system's a HP Mini 5101 netbook. May I know those that have pinch & zoom working, if you have to tweak any settings at all?
same problem on lenovo s12 ION! As all these functions program- we need some tweak/suitable driver. i want to use pinch/rotate func.
greetings from moscow)

Are you sure it uses a Synaptics Touchpad in the first place??

nice find !!!

ya , actually the driver can be modded for any kind of laptops but this worth a shot :D

good to know that not only mac that has the multitouch support

It always amazes me when we discover new ways to upgrade old tech. Much like the ability to network outdated computers together to use as a render farm in 3D software.

Now if society could put all those hackers to good use by generating mod scripts such as this to transform old hardware to perform like their new counterparts?

My tablet has a Synaptics touchpad, it will be interesting to see how this update works on it.

This is awesome!! Installed it on my 14" eMachines 620 laptop and it works GREAT! Turns it into a whole new machine - I can actually seroquel USE the trackpad now! 2-finger scrolling, 3-finger tap, and 3-finger flick are awesome, thanks OP! :s12:

yeah they have those or similar at laptopvideo2go they work good as long as your track pad is big enough

My touchpad is: Standard pointing device. Before installing the drivers it accepted and two finger scrolling and left-click with three fingers. I installed new drivers but I am not setting out anything about multitouch options and just continues to operate as before. Is not compatible my touchpad?

Did you uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones?
Did you make sure the device id identifies it as Synaptics?
Hardware ID should be SYNXXXX
If your touchpad is synaptics, the touchpad version number should have appeared on the titlebar.

Yeah, I uninstall the old drivers before installing new ones.

This is the problem, I think if it Synaptic, as well, but did not accept the drivers. Where I see the Hadware ID? Why not find anything that starts with SYNXXXX ...

It also appears the ID Mouse: HID-compliant mouse. But I think that is the USB mouse

On the titlebar only appears: Standard Pointing Device. (See the image of the previous post).

Thanks for taking your time

Go into device manager you should see point device.
Right Click into properties select hardware id.
Make sure you install the correct version of the OS.

Ok, since the problem must be that the touchpad is not Synaptic, but I do not understand why the drivers work correctly.

It doesn't work correctly since the functions are not implemented.
Go to your laptop OEM website and see which Touchpad is used then go find the latest corresponding drivers download and install.
A quick google on the hardware id seems to indicate it is a ALPS Touchpad therefore this might be useful.

Hey ArcticCheetah, thanks for the support. I was having the same problem as reisag and unfortunatley, I also have the ALPS touch pad.
I found this link through Dell which allows multi-touch on ALPS. I'm uninstalling my drivers to check if this works.

I believe HP often release the best Touchpad drivers that follows the TP Manufacturer release most closely as with my experience with their Synaptics TP releases.
Here is the latest HP ALPS Driver for the poor souls with Laptops with ALPS Touchpad

I can't seem to download the driver if theres a newer one that works or someone has the old driver still could i have a link. I tried upgrading my asus laptop to the newer generic synaptics driver and it itself didn't enable multi touch.

Just chanced upon this thread and I have to say a great big thank you to ArcticCheetah for the link.

It works nicely on my Lenovo T61 laptop running on Win7 32-Bit.

Touchpad Hardware ID: IBM0057
Touchpad Synatics Touchpad V6.2: 15.0.9.0 (18/2/2010)

I got all the functions enabled and I like the 3-finger press (I configured to open up FF Browser).

And Lenovo Fn+F8 works between switching the Track Point & Touch Pad.

Nice!!! :)

SYN1901

Hi Guys,

I have an older Benq laptop. This driver doesn't seem to work. The hardware ID is SYN1901 (which leads me to believe it's a Synaptics touchpad), however the driver is just a default microsoft driver. Even if I try uninstalling driver, then installing the synaptics one, it still just reinstalls the microsoft one. When booting the machine the Synpatics software crashes straight away (syntpenh.exe). If I try to run that program manually, it also crashes immediately...

I'm running Win XP 32bit.

Any ideas? Is my hardware just incompatible?

Thanks.

Not working on my Thinkpad T61

I have updated the driver on my Thinkpad T61 running Windows XP. Removed and Installed again. While the installation has went fine, It doesn't show the 2 finger and 3 finger options.
Please see the screenshot at img87.imageshack.us/img87/6111/ibmtouchpad.jpg as I am not allowed to post images.

Any ideas?
