Embargo not lifted yet so it is illegal to post it early. Embargo only lifts tonight for iMac and tomorrow for iPad Pro.

it's kinda funny how all these tech youtubers keep harping about e colors n chin. I mean it's pretty obvious to me  was going for e same look n impact like e OG iMac. 1 look u'll instantly know "oh it's e new iMac!" instead of e usual boring black rectangle box

ah well, I guess have to drum up some controversy for views 🤷🏻‍♂️

I find the new colors are more suitable for woman. Makes the laptop look like a toy.

apple is the first to make computing devices look new and fashionable, starting with the mba. now they are making fashion waves again with the new imacs, and probably their future products. vested in aapl.

Once you go big on screen - 27" and above, 24" is going to be a pain to the eyes, no matter how great the monitor is. For the kind of work I am doing, the speed/specs of the higher end iMac M1 is good enough. 2 x USB-C + 2 x TB4 is OK.

I dread the price of the new 27" iMac with probably an M2 chip and many more ports and other features, which may be an overkill.

I may stick with my 2017 iMac 27" for a few more years, until pricing of Apple hardware tapers down to decent levels.

By the way, I'm holding off buying the M1 MacBook Air. The 2018 MacBook Pro 15" is still good enough for my works.

Went out yesterday and I saw only 1 retailer have it on display (blue iMac). I'm here in HK.

Must say not bad, quite a good size. 4 usb-c/thunderbolt ports. 8GB ram/256gb ssd.

24" Screen is rather small when I'm used to a 27" inch since 2013.

There was this folder of M1-optimised apps in the Applications Folder. 3 of the apps - Affinity Photo, Publisher & Designer were there. I used them after ditching Adobe.

Start-up was not that fast. About 10-15 jumps. Opening a 168MB sample file is fast and working on it is good. Compared to opening the app in MacOS Catalina, the Affinity apps all open in a few jumps.

Apple needs to do something with BigSur.

Mine silver iMac 24 with 16GB RAM arrived last night (Saturday). Just finished setting up. Somehow whenever reboot, it will appear to be booting very slow after keying in password and then reboot again. Had to try a few times before I could get it to boot. Seems that if I wait for a minute or two before logging in, the success rate is higher. Also the recognition of the magic mouse seems slow. But once I touch the Touch ID button, the mouse is recognised.
