NEW LAPTOP INITIAL POWER UP

Must I plug in the power adaptor to my new Lenovo laptop to power up?

Bought a new laptop, unable to power up without using the AC adaptor, is there a safety reason for this ?

yes, Lenovo disables the internal built in battery before shipping from the factory. for safety during shipping.

just plug in the AC adaptor and power on the laptop for first time use. subsequently the laptop will work normally (no need AC adaptor to power on).

Didn't know about this lol. Got my thinkpad last week and I thought the battery was empty when it arrived. :s13:
