hi all,
im thinking of getting a new laptop/ netbook for portable usage...
just wondering what will be the best as im unsure due to more used to desktop pcs

primary usage will be,

1. Photoshop/ Lightroom (very basic)
2. Sony vegas (normal 720p rendering)
3. recording via usb/DAW (eg presonus)
4. running Bluestacks/nox

from what i listed i prioritize ram speed and storage space as primary as i just want it to run like a breeze/smooth

which will be a more affordable option for me (im okay with most brands just need one best for the money)

im fine with additional upgrade of ram/ storage if possible

preferred if possible :D
1. 64bit
2. i7
3. long battery life
4. as cheap as possible :D

just hit me up with the recommendation
thank you

My bro bought an Aftershock SM-15. Seems a good laptop for the specs and price range.

Would size and weight constrains be important?

Just to give you some direction:

1. Photoshop/ Lightroom (very basic) - Need RAM
2. Sony vegas (normal 720p rendering) - Processor and RAM
3. recording via usb/DAW (eg presonus) - RAM
4. running Bluestacks/nox - RAM

Basically, you just need RAM. Graphics card is not important, processor is good to have.

1. 64bit - Almost all OS are 64bit versions unless you are buying those Atom laptops.
2. i7 - For your usage only requirement 2 needs good processor. If you can compromise to i5 processor, that will be lots of cost saving. If i7 is a must then get a dual core i7. Video render depends on clock speed (frequency) of the processor, thus quad core or dual core does not make much difference.
3. long battery life - i5 typically consumes less power than i7 Quad core.
4. as cheap as possible :D - Look into Asus UX303LB i5 versions from $799.

Finally suggestion is to get a cheap i5 laptop, then upgrade the RAM and also the harddisk to SSD. SSD improves the speed in almost every area since you will like your laptop to "run like a breeze/smooth". :)

However, do note that SSD size are very affordable up to 250GB. 500GB are from $250 onwards. 1TB and 2TB version are very expensive.

Cheers!
